Green Mountain releases the 2022 Sustainability Report
Green Mountain, the Norwegian data center colocation provider, releases the Sustainability Report for 2022. The report covers a broad range of topics within ESG where each topic has a defined overall objective supplemented by several targets.
100% renewable power, world-leading energy efficiency and pilot projects on heat reuse are still among the core elements of the company’s holistic approach to support data center sustainability.
The sustainability report is an important tool and an opportunity for Green Mountain to maintain an open and transparent dialogue with their stakeholders.
In brief, here are some of the main highlights of the report:
- Still powering all sites with 100% renewable power.
- Reduced CO2 emissions by 9,8%.
- The carbon footprint on electricity is 0 gramCO₂e/ kWh but looking at scope 1 and 2 combined the carbon footprint amounts to 3,6 gCO₂e/kWh IT Load.
- Increased the waste sorting rate from 76% to 92%.
- The results of our surveys on employee satisfaction and client satisfaction demonstrates that the company performs well within social responsibility.
- Increased share of female employees from 15% to 18%.
- Continued focus on heat reuse projects.
- All clients introduced to the Green Mountain Energy Efficiency program.
- Implementing the GRI-framework for sustainability reporting.
Although the results are industry leading, the company acknowledges that they need to continue and amplify their initiatives. This requires strong focus as well as highly motivated partners throughout the value chain.

The company currently operates the following data center locations: SVG1-Rennesøy near Stavanger, RJU1-Rjukan in Telemark and the OSL1-Enebakk data center about 20 km outside of Oslo.
